Your posts on Facebook may effect the value of your injury claim or lawsuit.

I warn anyone who is injured in an accident in Florida to be very careful about anything that you post on your Facebook status, someone else’s wall or through personal emails on Facebook. Insurance adjusters and defense attorneys may browse your page in search of anything that can help make you look dishonest, untrustworthy, or not seriously injured. A defense attorney may ask the judge to to subpoeana your Facebook page or private emails that you have sent on Facebook. Below are a few examples of some posts that the defense may be able to you use against your at trial and possibly make a lower offer:

1) Today was a great day.

2) Pictures or videos of you out dancing.

3) I feel great.

4) I had an awesome weekend.

5) Pictures of drug use or drugs.

Although you may truly be in pain, a jury (who may be naturally distrusting of personal injury lawsuits) may think that you are not badly injured. Before you post something on Facebook, you should ask yourself the following question:

“Would I want a jury in my personal injury case to see this?”

If the answer is no, DO NOT post it.
